Jane’s passion for sewing began, when, at the age of nine, she pestered her mother to teach her to sew.
Since then, sewing and textile art has been a prominent part of her life, which lead to a career as a Home Economics teacher. Later, she moved into Special Education.
Jane has a Diploma of Teaching, Bachelor of Education, Master of Education with Honours and a Certificate III in Digitizing and Computerized Hoop Embroidery.
Jane is an Accredited Teacher of Special Techniques with Quilt NSW.
She is a member of the Australian Sewing Guild, Quilt NSW, and the Queensland Quilters. Her projects have received favourable comment from judges and adjudicators, and, she has won awards, locally, interstate and overseas.
In 2005, Jane opened a studio, where she tutors in dressmaking, heirloom sewing, patchwork and quilting, machine embroidery, overlocking and creative textile art. Jane also makes exclusive Christening gowns on commission.
She has been published in the Australian Stitches magazine and Australian Machine Embroidery and Textile Art magazine.
Based in Townsville, North Queensland, Jane conducts classes throughout Queensland and the Northern Territory, bringing the skill of sewing and textile art to many persons, including those in rural and remote areas.
