Burdekin Machine Embroidery Group

A wonderful group of avid machine embroiderers from the Burdekin and Bowen area came together for a RADF sponsored series of workshops.  Friendships were renewed and beginning sewers were welcomed into the group.

Jane offered a hands-on theory component.  participants were required to investigate the factors required for successful embroidery.  Then, sewers were let loose with their embroideries and implemented their new found knowledge.

In a follow-up workshop, Jane demonstrated precision placement for embroidery designs.  Participants were required to give careful thought to design placement.  On completion, a range of quilting design options were discussed, allowing participants to add greater visual depth to their work.

There was much laughter and fellowship during both workshops.

A further three workshops building on these newly acquired skills are planned later in the year.  And the enthusiasm has spilled over with planning afoot to create an embroidered quilt.  Congratulations to the organizers for the vision of bringing the passion of embroidery to the group.
