Hi dear Jane – you are a LEGEND!!!!

Thank you SO much for yesterday.  It was a day of awakening and excitement as I got to know my overlocker.

I really appreciated your individual care and understanding and was in awe of your ability to keep calm, keep your sense of humour, and keep coming up with tip after tip to make our overlocking journey powerful and positive.

After carting my overlocker to class in a wicker basket, I think I need to sit down over the weekend and practise using my overlocker skills to make a bespoke (fancy word that, eh!??) carry bag.

YEAR 2020  –  COVID-19 struck the world.  Lockdowns, isolation, and wearing masks became the norm. What a change to life as we used to know it to be.  2021 became the year we came together again. We realised that humanity is special, friendships trump isolation, and life is a precious gift to be treated with care and reverence. Take care of yourself, and each other.

 

You can teach an old dog new tricks. – this was my second workshop and I have had a whole new world opened up for me.  What a great bunch of ladies to spend time with and so patient with the ‘new’ kid on the block. Jane is a teacher who is so practical, patient and calm and she can teach old dogs to do new tricks. I have taken sewing lessons from Jane over the past eleven years. In those lessons I have made handbags, tote bags, various intricate blouses and three christening dresses. Jane also instructed me on free machining techniques, machine embroidery and various ways one can use an overlocker. I may add I have taken courses offered by other tutors, but Jane is most certainly the best and certainly outstanding in her knowledge of all techniques in sewing. Jane is an excellent teacher and I have learnt so much from her. My three christening dresses have received outstanding praise from all, but I must say without Jane’s expert advice and tuition, I would have been floundering. not knowing quite how to put it all together. I recently attended a trunk show and two, full-day workshops with Jane Grove in my hometown of Fort Wayne, Indiana. During the trunk show, while showing your gorgeous artwork and embroidery designs, Jane described the new partnership formed with Zündt design and Tracey Sims designs. My experience with Jane was so outstanding I felt compelled to send this message.

I’ve taken many, many courses over the years and without equivocation, Jane Grove is the best instructor I’ve ever experienced. She is a master teacher who understands how others learn and employs every teaching and learning style so that all participants are successful. She is tireless in making sure every single one of us made progress as we acquired new skills, she helped us trouble shoot, taught us to listen to our machines when issues arose and she celebrated our successes. Jane paces the instruction while peppering it with demonstrations so everyone learns new techniques and perfects existing ones. As a result, the group is cohesive and has a shared experience- in other words, it was fun!

I can’t wait for another opportunity to learn from Jane and I’ve already pestered her for dates when she will return. She is a tremendous asset to your partnership. I wish you much success in the future as you work together. And I am certain that my friends and I will benefit!

Thank you for a GREAT weekend of sewing and learning at Herbert River Quilters weekend workshop 18th and 19th June.  I finished my bag on Tuesday using covered buttons from the blue background fabric as could not find anything that looked good in my button collection.  I cross-hatched the back of the bag in a 2 1/2” diagonal grid using the serpentine stitch with a 2.5 length. I put the button loops to box the top of the bag under the zip end tabs.  I am really pleased with the finished product.  Thank you once again, I have thoroughly enjoyed all of the workshops I have had the pleasure of doing with you.
