Herbert River Quilters Retreat
Club members from two local groups, the Herbert River Quilters and Cardwell By The Sea Quilters, met at Halifax for three days of workshops. The first day saw participants challenged with free motion quilting processes. Nervous hands tentatively dropped feed dogs on sewing machines to create free motion designs. Everyone laughed at the attempts. However, with the practice, it was wonderful to see the confidence grow as the sttiching became more uniform, and the designs more creative.
Then, two days of patchwork followed. Participants had a choice of project, either a fractured and frenzied project, or pieced hidden squares.
As in previous years, the group self catered morning and afternoon teas, and a group dinner on the Saturday night. The fellowship and support provided by members to their fellow members ensures that this group will continue to prosper and sew together.
Congratulations to the group for another wonderful event. It was my pleasure to work alongside these ladies.
