National Convention Australian Sewing Guild

Tropical Cairns was the setting for the National Convention of the Australian Sewing Guild.  And the Hilton Hotel was the venue for this amazing  event.  Participants flew in from all corners of Australia to join the fun and share the love of sewing.

The organizing committee focused on all things local.  Tutors from the Cairns and surrounding area were engaged to teach, guide, explain, demonstrate, and enthuse the participants, with the creative techniques of sewing, and texturing with fabrics.  Sewers learned the fine techniques of garment sewing, sinnamay work on Fascinators, textures, tucks and braiding.

And lunch times were a feast of food, along with guest presenters offering a varied range of additional textile crafts.  The three day event ended on a high note with the Gala Dinner.

I had the honour of tutoring at the Convention.  It was a wonderful event with participants proudly finishing projects, and learning new skills.

Congratulations to the organizing committee for pulling together a wonderful North Queensland event.
