Threads of Friendship Embroidery Retreat

Palm Cove, is a beautiful beach setting in North Queensland.  It was the perfect venue for the third Threads Of Friendship Machine Embroidery Retreat.  Twenty-seven embroiderers converged on the Grand Chancellor Resort for three days of sewing and fun.  Participants hailed from Melbourne, Canberra, Proserpine, Townsville, Ingham, El Arish, Innisfail, Cairns, Mossman, Mareeba and Herberton.  Sewing machine brands represented were Bernina, Brother, Husqvarna, Janome and Pfaff.

Two projects were completed.  These were a lace supper cloth, and a three-dimensional floral wall hanging.

Friday night was the “Mad Maidens Machining in March” Pajama party.  The resort staff were highly amused at the wonderfully funny outfits that ladies wore.  Saturday evening was “Show and Share” and allowed sewers to showcase their own work.  Sunday night saw participants swap beautifully made needle cases.  These are a special keepsake memento of a wonderful fellowship of machine embroidery.

Planning is underway for a fourth embroidery retreat in 2017.

Thank you to everyone who attended and made the event a happy and fun learning experience.
